Still trained in Ireland by Eddie Lynam, Moviesta put the disappointment of his winter in Dubai firmly behind him with a very comfortable 2 and 3/4 length victory. Carrying a top weight of 10st 4  he was confidently ridden by Robbie Downey and cruised through the race before quickening clear. Running off 107 he could well equal or exceed his career high mark when re assessed by the handicapper. One of our broodmares, Duchess of Ripon, received further updates to an already outstanding page with her half brother Parfait cruising to another comfortable victory at Newmarket. She is out of the Black Type mare Rakiza and 3 parts sister to the Black Type mare Exactement who is by leading US stallion Speightstown. Parfait is by Invincible Spirit, owned by Godolphin and trained by John Gosden, having won as a 2 year old he finished the season rated 87. After a Gelding operation over the winter and the application of cheekpieces, he has improved 20lbs in his...

The general foal crop would have approximately 20% of individuals scoring as Class 4. As part of the study, the first crop mares were also tested to measure what genetic performance traits were inherited from the stallion. Albaasil upgraded the Elite Performance scores of 90% of his first crop, 10% remained the same and none were downgraded.    Albaasil’s foals tested have also all scored as Higher Potential or Medium Potential on the Raced/Unraced genetic test, which identifies the likelihood of a young horse making it to the...

Fiddes Racing is delighted to announce our continued support of Yorkshire cricketer Azeem Rafiq by extending our sponsorship. Azeem made his first class debut for Yorkshire in June of 2009 against Sussex at Headingley in impressive fashion taking 3 wickets in the first innings and 2 in the second. This was followed up with a fantastic century in only his second match against Worcester at New Road. Having represented & captained England at youth level Azeem was made England Under 19 captain for the 2010 World Cup. In 2012 Azeem was given the honour of being Yorkshire’s T20 Captain, making him the county’s youngest ever captain. He excelled in the role, leading Yorkshire to 5 victories in 6 matches in charge before regular captain Andrew Gale’s return for finals day at Lords. He also excelled in the four-day side as Yorkshire bid for promotion to the First Division in the Championship. Rafa finished the season with a magnificent all-round performance in the final match as Yorkshire clinched promotion with victory over Essex in Chelmsford, he made 53 and 75 not out  and had career-best innings and match figures with the ball, finishing with 5 for 50 as Essex were bowled out for 148 in their...

Bought by Ritchie at the Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale in 2014 for only £30,000 its fair to say she was an absolute superstar and a bargain. Named after Ritchie’s Grandad, George Easton, she won her first two starts as a 2 year old before being narrowly beaten by Acapulco in the Group 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot. After placing in the Group2 Duchess of Cambridge at Newmarket & Lowther at York, she spent the winter at Moor End Stud where she was prepared for the 2016 season. She returned in devastating fashion at York recording back to back Listed victories in the Westow Stakes, followed by the Scurry Stakes at Sandown. After narrow defeat at Listed Level to future Group 1 winner Marsha, Easton came a desperately unlucky 4th in the King George at Glorious Goodwood, after starting slowly and meeting lots of trouble in running. In total she won 4 races and was placed 3 times from only 11 starts including 2 stakes wins and 3 stakes places and over £140,000 in prize money, plus a £10,000...

Bred by The Queen, she carried her colours as a 2 year old winning her first two starts over 7 furlongs at Folkstone, and a hot 6 furlong Class 4 Novice at Haydock. She went on to achieve her all important Black Type on only her 4th start as a 2 year old, in the high quality 7 furlong Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket for trainer Richard Hannon Snr. After being sold at the end of her 2 year old career she began her 3 year old season in France with Jean Claude Rouget. Her first start was at Longchamp finishing 3rd in a Listed race on unflavoured heavy ground and completed her season with a comfortable win at Deauville. As a 4 year old Step Softly raced in America, trained by Ben Cecil, her final win came over a mile at Hollywood Park, demonstrating her usual fast finishing speed and determination. Although bred to stay much further being by Golan out of a Shirley Heights mare, her wins came over 6f, 7f and a mile, she loved fast ground and as...

Moviesta notched his first win of 2016 over 6 furlongs at Dundalk, with the addition of cheekpieces and the return to the all weather surface doing the trick. Held up at the back of the field Moviesta travelled comfortably in behind and cut through the field with ease to win with plenty in hand. He may have 1 or 2 more runs before heading to Dubai for the World Cup in 2018....

Our first foal of 2016 was born just after 6am this morning.  A gorgeous filly by our stallion, Albaasil, out of Steel Breeze a full sister to Glen Moss one of our top race horses. As it is Steel Breeze’s first foal, everyone was naturally delighted that the foal was delivered strong and healthy and with straight correct limbs. She is very athletic and well muscled and already looks like a sprinter in the making....
