NAME: | Another Angel |
AGE: | 3 (Foaled January 3rd, 2014) |
SEX: | Bay Colt |
SIRE: | Dark Angel (IRE) |
DAM: | Selkirk (USA) |
OWNER: | Mr Ritchie Fiddes |
Another Angel is a real favourite in the yard, he’s a real pro who has never missed a day’s work and always eats every scrap of food and hay. Even though he’s still a colt, he’s a real gentleman, and never misbehaves!
Being an early January foal he has always looked like a 4-year-old and weighed 480 KG’s when we bought him at the 2015 Doncaster Premier Sale for £50,000.
His work on the gallops early in 2016 was good enough for him to work several times with older horses. When he made his debut at Redcar in early April, he was very green on leaving the stalls but after the penny dropped he ran on nicely under hands and heels to finish 3rd behind two horses that had already run. After his very promising debut, he was in everyone’s notebooks and we duly expected him to make amends on his next start. In what turned out to be a very strong Doncaster Maiden, he finished a respectable 4th behind Hugh Palmer’s impressive winner Afandem, who ended up a 107 rated Group 3 winner. In 2nd was Mark Johnson’s Rusumaat who ended up 94 rated.
After his third start on the new Tapeta surface at Newcastle in June 2016 where he was beaten by a length and a half to finish 3rd, we decided to prepare Another Angel for his 3-year-old career. With his impressive physique he should be capable of winning his maiden early in 2017.
